Nowhere is the potential of future generations more evident than in Student Research & Creative Activity (SRCA) Day or students’ participation in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. In making Oneonta affordable to students who are the first in their families to attend college, the campaign fosters equity. has seen the creation of over 100 new scholarships and funds. thrive on sth Some employees thrive on the challenge of intense workloads. Additional support comes from unrestricted giving, a key focus of the campaign. to grow, develop, and become successful: Industries such as water, telecoms, and insurance have been thriving. The State University College at Oneonta Foundation supports experiential learning through resources such as the James ’75 and Mary Susan Ajello Internship Fund and the Caroline ’67 and David D’Antonio Student Travel for Excellence Fund. You know how instrumental they were in helping you reach your potential. (Pat attended an economics conference at SUNY Albany Linda worked with a Head Start program and did student teaching.) You probably had similar experiences. We’re fortunate to have had these opportunities too. As you may have read in the last issue of Reflections, by the time Oneonta students are seniors, nearly 75% have availed themselves of at least two such opportunities.Ībout 80% of Oneonta students have financial need - a percentage that continues to grow. Whether through internships, student employment, research and creative collaborations, study abroad, volunteer service, or service learning - this is where transformation occurs. When we spoke recently with President Cardelle, we were delighted to learn how closely the campaign aligns with his values: a belief in the transformative role of higher education, a commitment to equity, and a strong sense of optimism for the potential of future generations.Ī great example of where all these intersect is experiential learning.
